On the 27th of August 2019, the world renowned American Comedian, Author, Actor, Radio Personality, Television Host and Producer; Mr Steve Harvey visited METRO FM and 5FM as part of his media tour for bringing one of his popular American game show The Family Feud, to South Africa.
While on his interviews on Metro FM’s breakfast show ‘Morning flava’ with Mo Flava and a recording on 5fm’s ‘The Thabooty Drive’ ThandoThabethe, Steve expressed his excitement on visiting South Africa and described it as ‘coming back home’. He shared that he has always wanted to see his idea of bringing The Family Feud show to Africa a reality.
“I was in Botswana last November and Africa has been on my vision board for eight to nine years, as I wanted to come home and do something in my homeland. I thought it would be great if African families played against each other with me as host”, explained Steve.
He further mentioned that his goal is to have South Africa play against Ghana and Johannesburg against Durban and to have the show so massive that is almost like a soccer game.
He will start filming the Family Feud here in South Africa in late October through November and December. As it stands Steve Harvey is the first celebrity to go global with a Television Show and still be the same person who is hosting it.
His Visit was beyond inspirational, and impactful.
A renewed energy
His talks were not short of energetic motivations, ideas and giving inspiration to others. He gave insights and highlighted that his visit and his work here in Africa is to bridge the gap between Africans and African Americans.
It was so divine to an extent that he gave words of motivation(like he does in his behind the scenes videos),
He gave ideas and advice to our celebs such as Somizi, Lerato Kganyakgo, Dineo Ranaka, and Thando Thabethe.
As Somizi (Somgaga, Idols Judge) mentioned the experience on Insta by saying “ God was in that room. I’m so full of everything positive right now. And I’m going for everything that’s meant for me.”
Actress, Club Dj, Radio Host: Thando Thabooty Thabethe also took it to Instagram by saying “ Thank you for a beautiful insightful, candid, honest conversation. Today will forever be inscribed in my heart .”
On his interviews, Mr. Steve Harvey outlines that his visit here in Africa is beyond The Family Feud.
So in his words, Steve Harvey says “I’ll have to move here.”
Not only does Steve Harvey wants to move here, but he says his wife has fallen in love with South Africa while she was at the mall. This alone shows how beautiful our country is right? Laughs
Moreover, Mr. Steve Harvey wants to come here in South Africa as he calls it “My Homeland,” to open up studios, build a business and teach Africans how Hollywood does it when it comes to the production of television.

As if like he knew that one of my dreams is to go to Hollywood and become one of the most prolific writer, author, producer and public speaker, yet he said “you have Africa, you don’t need to go to Hollywood to be great. You can create your own Hollywood right here.” He really knocked the sense out of me, and he went on to highlight that Hollywood takes content from us, and they then revamp it and sell it back to us.
